October 2011 Updates to News Clocks

News Clocks version 24 brings you some important new features and exciting changes. Here’s a list of them.

This is the new Settings and Tools button. It used to be on the panel that slides into view when you tap a clock. I moved it on to the main view so that it would be more obvious for people. It also makes tools, settings, and help easier to get to.

This is the new Date calculator, a fine addition to the three tools that were already available (a Time Zone converter, a Distance calculator, and a Duration calculator). This new calculator lets you add or subtract a number of years, months, days, hours, and minutes to any date. Also, these tools are now available on the iPhone. Previously they only worked on the iPad.

This is the new panel that slides into view when you tap a clock. The Settings button is gone (it’s on the main screen now). You get the same information as before, with two new buttons at the bottom: Edit and Alarms. Edit is very, very important, as we will see…

This is the new Edit panel. It allows you to edit all of the details of a clock — city name, time zone, anything. You can also select a city from the enormous database as before. This will help all those people who find that the time is off in one of the entries in the database. While I do my best to maintain the database, things happen, and it’s not perfect. Now, you can manually choose a new time zone for your clocks and fix any errors. But you should still tell me about them, so that I can update the database.
